George's mother, Princess Kate, stepped out of the public eye earlier this year and revealed in March that she had been diagnosed with cancer. In a video announcing her diagnosis, Kate said it took her time "to explain everything to George, Charlotte and Louis in a way that's appropriate for them, and to reassure them that I'm going to be OK."
In June, Princess Kate made her public return at Trooping the Colour, a celebration of King Charles' birthday.
